For Mathias Wengeler, the racing pigeon loft on the roof of his house is more than just that. His pigeons are his passion. When he's not at his unloved job in the call center, where he has to listen to his boss's scolding, he lovingly looks after the feathered beauties, which are named either Richard Burton or Liz Taylor, depending on their gender. Unfortunately, daughter Dani and wife Rita miss out. There are more and more arguments between her and Mathias, mainly due to the considerable piles of unpaid bills and final reminders. To make matters worse, the children's home where Rita works is to be closed. And what does Mathias do? He buys bags of pigeon food. Rita has had enough. From now on, it's the pigeons or me! But does Mathias really have the heart to part with his pets?

Semir and Alex's vacation is cut short after a corpse is found on the outskirts of a race track, where they are invited as VIP guests for a DTM event. Things worsen after one of the drivers - one of Alex's childhood friends - is abducted.

Frankfurt police inspector Fritz Dellwo (Jorg Schuttauf) has been training for months for the Frankfurt marathon. He is entering in company with a small group, one of whom is a veteran sports coach from the former East Germany, Henry Danquarnt (Karl Kranzkowski). On the eve of the race an underworld figure with sharp-shooting skills escapes from jail. This criminal had threatened to kill Dellwo. Dellwo's partner, inspector Charlotte Sanger (Andrea Kawatski), does not want him to participate in the marathon on account of this. He brushes off her worries. Early in the marathon, a participant is shot dead at long range. Video evidence shows that the victim was running directly behind Dellwo. A desperate search begins to locate Dellwo and pull him out of the race. The shot was fired from a church tower. Sanger decides to visit the cleaner of the church, Irene Ferber (Kirsten Block), who may have been an eye-witness, and finds from her partner that she is cleaning another church.

In 2009 started the hardest and longest footrace in the world: an average run of 43 miles/day, 64 total stages, no days off, for a total of 2,800 miles from southern Italy up to the North Cape in Norway. Nights were spent in gyms, kindergartens or swimming baths on own mats, there where no accompanying service teams, no closed streets during the racing day... The performance expectations were turned upside down. It's not just about physical fitness but also about who can master this huge challenge in their head. Women become dreaded opponents of men. Ideal age is 40 - that's when mind and body are equally strong.
